The Gift of Salvation

Salvation is the most precious, greatest gift we can ever accept. Salvation saves us from every punishment we deserve because of sin. We as humans have a sinful nature. Romans 3:23 tells us,” For we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The Lord is holy and pure, whereas sin is the complete opposite. Habakkuk 1:13 says God’s eyes are too pure to look on evil, and he cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Even though the Lord hates sin, He gives us free will. It is up to us to accept salvation and live a life pleasing to him.

Think of the judicial system. When someone commits a crime, they must pay for that crime by paying a fine or doing jail time. It is the same in the spirit world. Sin is the crime, and we must pay for it. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Romans 6:23, NIV. God loved us so much that He sent His son Jesus to be the ultimate sacrifice for all our sins; past, present and future! It doesn’t get any better than that!

Will you accept the gift of salvation today?  The Bible says in Romans 10:9-13, “If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame, since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on him. For everyone who call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  You cannot carry the weight of sin on your own and expect to make heaven. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and you need a savior. Accept the gift of salvation today.

Prayer of Salvation

Lord, I am a sinner. Please forgive me for all my sins, unintentional and intentional. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that you sent your one and only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for all my sins. I believe you resurrected him from the grave so that I may have everlasting life. I make you Lord and Savior over my life and all that pertains to me. I ask the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me. Equip me for what you have created me to do for your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.

If you said this prayer, you are now a part of God’s family. You have accepted the gift of salvation. But it doesn’t stop here. After accepting salvation, it is important to surround yourself with other believers to get the discipleship needed for spiritual growth and accountability. Read the Bible daily to know God’s word and learn His nature. And never stop praying.
